Amici Salon – a studio supper club | Miroslava Večeřová - Before It Was Water
11 September 7pm
Tickets are £55
To coincide with Miroslava Večeřová’s exhibition Before It Was Water at Amici Studio, this edition of the Amici Salon brings together art, sound and food for an intimate evening in the studio.
Before It Was Water is a new body of work exploring the ocean as a shared, more-than-human home and the porous relationships between human bodies and the ecosystems that sustain them. Moving between land, water and air, the exhibition brings together sculpture, drawing and sound to consider breath, deep time, and the interconnected material systems through which human and non-human life coexist.
Miroslava will be joined by sound artist Dr Isobel Anderson to premiere and introduce their new collaborative sound work, created as a key installation within the exhibition. Together, they will share some of the ideas, processes and exchanges behind the piece, which is diffused across a custom-built sound system designed by Tony D. Birch as part of this year’s XMTR Audio Arts Festival.
We are also delighted to welcome back our friend Kate Harris of Shared Table as guest chef. Kate has created a generous, Middle Eastern–inspired menu reflecting the meeting point between late summer and early autumn, celebrating seasonal produce through rich, smoky flavours, fresh herbs, preserved lemon, za’atar and sumac. Served family-style and designed for sharing, the meal brings together dishes including smoky chorizo and butter bean stew, toasted flatbreads with dips, pea and spinach fritters, and a vibrant late-summer tomato salad.
Together, the evening will move between exhibition, conversation, sound and a shared meal, reflecting the spirit of Before It Was Water and the wider Amici programme.
The evening will unfold as follows:
– Welcome drink and arrival
– Introduction to Before It Was Water with Miroslava Večeřová
– Premiere and introduction to the collaborative sound work with Miroslava and Dr Isobel Anderson
– A shared, studio-style dinner prepared by Kate Harris of Shared Table
– Time for conversation and connection
As with all Amici Salon events, this is conceived as a relaxed, social evening rather than a formal programme — a chance to gather, listen and exchange ideas around the table.
Tickets are £55 and include dinner and a welcome drink. Additional drinks will be available to purchase from the Amici bar.
Capacity is intentionally limited to maintain an intimate and engaging atmosphere.
Please note that the menu may be subject to change according to the availability of seasonal ingredients.
