Before It Was Water is a new body of work by Miroslava Večeřová exploring the ocean as a shared, more-than-human home and the porous relationships between human bodies and the ecosystems that sustain them.

Moving between land, water and air, the exhibition brings together new sculpture, drawing and sound to consider breath, deep time and the interconnected material systems through which human and non-human life coexist.

The exhibition includes an immersive sound installation created in collaboration with sound artist Dr Isobel Anderson, diffused across a custom-built sound system designed by Tony D. Birch as part of this year’s XMTR Audio Arts Festival.

On Saturday 26 September, Miroslava and Isobel will come together at Amici Studio for a special XMTR event exploring the ideas, processes and collaboration behind the work. Further details will be announced soon.
