Declarative Language
Curated by Kelly Jessiman and Alexis Soul-Gray
Amici Studio, Hastings
11 April – 9 May 2026
Public Opening: Saturday 11 April, 12–4pm
Declarative Language is a group exhibition bringing together artists whose practices have been shaped by sustained caregiving within families of neurodivergent children. Emerging from shared lived experience, the exhibition considers how prolonged responsibility, compressed time and heightened attention can act as catalysts for artistic transformation.
Across sculpture, painting, installation and moving image, the participating artists explore how creative practice adapts when it must coexist with care. Materials and gestures become a form of language in themselves: direct, economical and resistant to easy explanation. Rather than centring disclosure or testimony, the exhibition reflects on making as a form of thought, connection and resilience.
